Composing the top 48

A: 3 athletes from a separate standing in the squads conducted on Saturday-Sunday 8-9 July
B: 3 athletes from a separate standing in the squads conducted on Monday-Tuesday 10-11 July
C: 4 athletes from a separate standing in the squads conducted in Wednesday-Thursday 12-13 July
D: 35 athletes from the general standing including results from all qualification squads
E: 3 athletes from the desperado squad

Athletes are qualified from the categories in the order D - C - B - A, which means:
that there always will be 3 athletes qualified from A and B and 4 from C
that athletes are qualified first from the D standing, then from the C standing etc.
that athletes positions in A, B, C does not count if they are qualified from any other standing

Seeding for the final steps

All athletes qualified from the A standing (3), the B standing (3), the C-standing (4), the E standing (3) and the D standing position 17-35 (19) is qualified for the final step 1
Athletes positioned 9-16 in the general standing will qualify for the final step 2
Athletes positioned 1-8 in the general standing will qualify for the final step 3

Final step 1

32 athletes qualified will play 4 games starting from scratch
Top 16 will qualify for the final step 2
Athletes not continuing to the final step 2 will be ranked 33-48 according to their positions in the standing of the final step 1

Final step 2

24 athletes qualified will play 4 games starting from scratch
Top 10 will qualify for the final step 3
Athletes not continuing to the final step 3 will be ranked 19-32 according to their positions in the standing of the final step 2

Final step 3

18 athletes qualified will play 6 games starting from scratch
Top 4 will qualify for the final step 4
Athletes not continuing to the final step 4 will be ranked 5-18 according to their positions in the standing of the final step 3

Final step 4

4 athletes will play an elimination over 3 one game rounds
In each round the lowest scoring athlete is leaving the elimination
Round 1 is starting from scratch
Round 2 is starting with the score from round 1 carried forward
Round 3 is starting with an accumulated score of the two previous games carried forward
The athlete leaving the first round will be ranked 4
The athletes leaving the second round will be ranked 3
The athletes leaving the third round will be ranked 2
The winner will be ranked 1

Tournament Tie Rules:

Qualification

The highest positioned athlete will be the athlete scoring the highest last game. If a tie still exists, the highest positioned athlete will be the athlete with the highest second last game etc.

Final Step 1-3

Ties influencing who will qualify for the next final step will be broken by playing a 9th and 10th frame roll off, repeated until the tie is broken. In all other tie situations in step 1-3, a procedure similar to the procedure for the qualification will be followed.

Final step 4

In case of a tie in a round decisive for a continuation to the next round, or a tie deciding the final title match, a one ball roll off on a full set of pins will be played, repeated until the tie is broken.

A tie influencing who will qualify for the first final step will be broken by playing a 9th and 10th frame roll off, repeated until the tie is broken.
